Kaizer Chiefs want to sign Zesco United midfielder Luka Mutoshi. The team is looking to build its squad during the offseason.
Mutoshi is 22 years old and plays as a central midfielder. He is also a Zambian international player.
Kaizer Chiefs noticed him during the CAF Confederation Cup this season. Mutoshi played three games for Zesco United in the competition.
One of those games was in South Africa. Mutoshi played in the match where his team lost in the country.
A person close to the Zambian club said the two teams are already talking about a deal, The Citizen reported.
“Talks between Chiefs and Zesco have started and they are progressing well,” the source said.
Mutoshi wants to move to Naturena to play for Kaizer Chiefs.
“What is left now is for the two clubs to agree on the transfer fee,” the source said.
The midfielder believes joining Kaizer Chiefs will be good for his career.
“Chiefs are a very big club and everyone knows them here in Zambia,” the source said.
Mutoshi dreams of playing overseas one day. The source said the player sees Kaizer Chiefs as the perfect step to reach that goal.
Kaizer Chiefs and Zesco United have done business before. The South African club signed striker Lazarous Kambole from Zesco United in 2019.
