- Angry Kaizer Chiefs fans marched to Naturena after three losses but Amakhosi have now won four matches in a row.
- Coach Cedric Kaze says getting injured players back on the pitch gives Kaizer Chiefs more choices and better match results.
Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze says his side is winning again because injured players are back on the pitch. The club beat TS Galaxy at the FNB Stadium on Sunday. This was their fourth win in a row.
Before this winning run, Kaizer Chiefs lost three matches. The bad results made fans angry. Supporters marched to Naturena to demand that the club fire Kaze and his co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef.
Since then, Kaizer Chiefs have beaten Durban City, Magesi, ORBIT College and TS Galaxy. The club is now pushing to finish in the top three of the Betway Premiership. Doing this will get them a spot in the CAF competitions next season.
Kaze said having a full squad has helped them play better football.
“The consistency in the recent results comes from the consistency in performances and the consistency in the line-up,” Kaze said.
He said the club could not pick the same starting players before. Khanyisa Mayo, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Ethan Chislett, Given Msimango and Bradley Cross are all back from injury. He said having these players back creates competition for places and gives him more choices.
Kaze also said his players understand how to attack better now.
“We have a game model that we have been working on. Specifically, the ways to get inside the box, the ways to create two-on-one situations and the ways to overload either side of the field,” he said.
Kaizer Chiefs will travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday. Amakhosi will play against Magesi FC, who are at the bottom of the log.
He said the players need to sleep early and pull in the same direction.
“We need to keep pressure on everyone in training and outside of training to recover well,” he said.
