- Piano Pulse host Maesela “Thakgi” Ledwaba upsets fans after calling Kabza De Small “a fat cake” during a talk about fame and weight.
- Sfiso Ndlovu joins the teasing as the podcast faces fresh backlash after past fights with JL SA and Gigi Lamayne over disrespectful comments.
Amapiano star Kabza De Small is trending after Piano Pulse podcast co-host Maesela “Thakgi” Ledwaba made a fat joke that pushed fans too far.
Thakgi was talking about how fame changes artists. Instead of keeping it light, he said Kabza had gained weight, then compared him to an igwinya, a fat cake.
He said: “Kabza ke sdudla, you can see ke legwinya.”
Fans were furious. Many felt the joke was hurtful and unnecessary. Some slammed Thakgi for body-shaming Kabza. Others clapped back by mocking Thakgi’s own looks.
The backlash grew quickly as clips spread online. People said they were tired of hosts using artists’ bodies for laughs while pretending it was harmless.
Thakgi later apologised. He said he did not mean to insult Kabza, only to show how success can change a person.
But even his co-host Sfiso Ndlovu joined the teasing. He said Thakgi himself had also gained weight since becoming popular.
For regular listeners, this latest drama is nothing new. The podcast has been in hot water before.
Ndlovu recently admitted he messed up royalty payments to JL SA for the hit “Hamba Juba”.
The hosts also angered fans when they called rapper Sizwe Alakine’s girlfriend, Gigi Lamayne, a “downgrade” from his former partner, LootLove.
This time, fans say they want the show to show more respect to the artists who built the amapiano scene they talk about.
