The bail hearing for the four men accused of the murder of four Soshanguve residents has been postponed to 30 January by the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court.
Tshepo “Stompie” Masombuka, Sipho “Rusty” Kgomo and George Ntuli are each facing four counts of murder.
The fourth suspect, Sizwe Msibi, is facing four counts of murder, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts of unlawful possession of ammunition.
He was released on Tuesday but re-arrested on Wednesday.
Msibi, the nephew of the late taxi boss and business mogul Jothan “Mswazi” Msibi, also faces a case of armed robbery at the Temba Magistrate’s Court.
Ntuli appeared in court limping with visible injuries and bruises to his face and head with alleged internal injuries.
On Monday night he was rushed to George Mukhari Hospital after he was allegedly assaulted by the police, which is being investigated.
The four victims Vuyo Zinnele, 14, Phomolang Malakapatlo, 28, Constable Mpho Kgobotlo, 29, and Thando Dlamini, 32, were killed in the early hours of New Year’s Day in an alleged drug turf battle.
They were all certified dead at the scene.
Defence lawyer Steven Magoro, representing the four suspects, asked the court for the matter to be postponed.
“We still have not received Msibi’s docket so that we can understand why he was re-arrested. I am unable to advise my client without such information,” he said.
“Ntuli is also in pain and has internal injuries and at the moment he is not fit to stand in court.”
There were sighs of disappointment in the packed court when the magistrate announced the postponement.
