- Bryanston will face a planned outage on Tuesday, 2 September, while inner city residents may have no water for up to nine hours.
- Midrand’s President Park Reservoir is running at critically low levels, leaving some areas with very poor pressure or no supply.
Johannesburg Water has warned residents to prepare for water supply cuts this week in parts of Bryanston, the inner city and Midrand.
In Bryanston, a planned shutdown will take place on Tuesday, 2 September, from 8am to 4pm. The outage is needed so teams can connect a new pipe to the main water line along Dover Road. The utility said the work will improve service and ensure a more stable supply.
On the same day, areas of Region F in the inner city will also be affected. From 10am until 5pm, technicians will be connecting a 110mm pipeline extension at the corner of Joubert and Albert streets.
Johannesburg Water said residents and businesses along Frederick, Rissik, Loveday and Eloff streets should expect either very low pressure or no water at all during this time.
Meanwhile, the utility flagged a critical situation in Midrand, where the President Park Reservoir and Tower system is running at dangerously low levels. High demand, reduced inflows and water losses have left residents in some areas with little or no supply.
Johannesburg Water said it is monitoring the situation closely. Where supply is completely unavailable, alternative water will be arranged through ward councillors.
