- The couple rekindled their romance after previous relationships, including Tau’s with Tsholofelo Mhlongo and Sizakhele Manonga.
Former footballer Jimmy Tau has married media boss Thabile Ngwato in a quiet ceremony kept under wraps.
Tau, who played for both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, said “I do” to Ngwato, the CEO of Newzroom Afrika, two weeks ago. The couple exchanged vows in Muldersdrift, Gauteng, in front of only close family and a few trusted friends.
Everyone attending was told to keep the event hush-hush.
The wedding marks a fresh start for Tau and Ngwato, whose relationship has had a few twists over the years. They first dated several years ago but split for unknown reasons.
After that, both went their separate ways. Tau started a public relationship with Sizakhele Manonga. He reportedly paid R200,000 in lobola for her, but things ended badly after claims of cheating involving Major League DJz member Bandile Mbere. Mbere has denied the accusations, Sunday World reported.
Ngwato also moved on but stayed out of the spotlight when it came to her love life.
Tau reportedly split from his wife and the mother of his child, Tsholofelo Mhlongo, and he and Ngwato found each other again.
Those close to them describe their reunion as “a tale of two hearts on one journey,” suggesting their love story was always meant to continue.
Tau’s previous marriage is said to be heading for divorce. Insiders claim Mhlongo became unhappy in the relationship, which started when she was still very young.
She is said to have sacrificed her bond with her father, who was friends with Tau, to be with him, but it didn’t work out as she had hoped.
