Legendary jazz singer and songwriter Gloria Bosman passed away on Tuesday following a short illness.
The 50-year-old singer released the majority of her music in the late 1990s and 2000s.
Her death was reported by Sunday World on Tuesday afternoon.
Jazz legend Sipho Hotstix also confirmed the news on his social media, paying tribute to Bosman.
Just last month, Bosman was announced as a member of the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (Samro) board of directors.
Born in Soweto, Bosman featured in a variety of music genres. In addition to jazz, she also contributed to rock and gospel music during her career.
She was also a popular producer, composer and presenter.
Bosman shared the stage with musical legends including Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Khumalo, and Sipho Mabuse.
She earned several awards throughout her career with her debut album Tranquility winning best newcomer at the South African Music Awards.
Bosman is survived by her daughter and granddaughter.Â
