The controversy over the Zulu throne has angered izinduna who are accusing the royal family of  dividing the nation by failing to crown the king.

On Wednesday izinduna from Nongoma held a meeting at the Nongoma multi purpose centre where they raised concerns about the infighting that is taking place in the royal family.

Induna Muzi Nyandeni who convened the meeting said they are disturbed by the situation at the royal court.

“The Royal Family have embarrassed the Zulu throne by fighting amongst themselves. The decision to challenge King Misuzulu kaZwelithini in the Pietermaritzburg High Court is totally unacceptable.

“We wish they could stop and focus on the unity of the Zulu nation. As we speak, Amakhosi are being killed each and every day, but there is no one to address it because the custodian of our nation is preoccupied with courts,” said Nyandeni.

Izinduna want the infighting to come to an end so that the nation could see its king being crowned.

The Zulu royal family has been fighting over the throne since the passing of King Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu in March this year.

The fight started when the first wife of the late king, Queen Sibongile MaDlamini of Khethomthandayo, went to court to challenge the will and his marital status.

Other members of the family also joined in by challenging the signature on the will which is believed to be that of the late king Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu.

Another case was held last week to seek the court interdict against the secret coronation ceremony which was said to be planned for Misuzulu at Khangelamankengana Royal Palace, but he denied any knowledge of the event.

Prince Thulani denied any knowledge of the izinduna meeting. He said they should meet with Queen Mavis maZungu, Queen Mantombela, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and Prince Philemon of kwaFihlinqindi if they want to raise these issues.
