- Reports say Dricus du Plessis is injured and won’t be ready for his title fight in June.
- Khamzat Chimaev says he doesn’t believe Du Plessis is really hurt and called him a liar online.
South African UFC champion Dricus du Plessis might not fight in Las Vegas this June because of an injury — and Khamzat Chimaev is not buying it.
Fans were hoping to see Du Plessis defend his middleweight title against Chimaev at UFC 317 during International Fight Week.
But reports say Du Plessis is injured and won’t be ready, even though the UFC never made the fight official. It would have been his third title defence after he beat Sean Strickland in February.

Well-known combat sports journalist Kevin Iole says Du Plessis is out of the fight. That was enough for Chimaev to explode on social media.
“This guy biggest bullsh**t,” he posted.
Chimaev has been waiting for a title shot for a long time. He’s still unbeaten and beat Robert Whittaker in his last fight, but injuries and other problems have stopped him from fighting for the belt.
Right now, neither Du Plessis nor the UFC has said anything about the injury or how serious it is. An official update is expected soon.
