Kaizer Chiefs will have to pay Pitso Mosimane around R2-million a month if they want him to be their coach.
Mosimane, 59, who tried to save the Saudi Pro League team Abha Club from relegation last season, might be available soon since his contract ends this month.
A court case between Mamelodi Sundowns and his management company, MT Sports Marketing and Management, revealed that he earned R1.55-million a month at Sundowns in 2020.
Mosimane and Sundowns have been in a legal fight. Sundowns want MT Sports owner Moira Tlhagale to pay back her commission of about R8.6-million because Mosimane didn’t complete his contract.
Mosimane, one of the longest-serving and most decorated Mzansi coaches, signed a big contract with Sundowns in May 2020 but left in September of that year to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly, presumably for more money.
After leaving Al Ahly in June 2022, Mosimane coached Al-Ahli Saudi FC, Al-Wahda in the UAE Pro League, and Abha Club.
His success in the Gulf region has likely increased his value, so Chiefs might need to offer around R2-million a month to get him, TimesLive reported.
Mosimane’s contract with Sundowns included a 10% bonus from prize money for winning the PSL or cup competitions and bonuses of R5,000 to R8,000 for match wins.
Chiefs finished last season in 10th place under temporary coach Cavin Johnson, their worst-ever league position, and have not won any trophies in nine seasons.
The club is looking for a new coach and may announce one in the next two weeks.
