Popular DJ and TV personality, Lamiez Holworthy, refuses to sit back and watch as social media followers attempt to damage her reputation.
On Tuesday the DJ, who is married to Khuli Chana, took to social media to call out two Facebook followers after they said she was cold and rude in public.
One of the users, who works at one of the big supermarkets in Tshwane commented on Lamiez’s post stating that her encounter with the DJ wasn’t pleasant as she appeared as if she didn’t love people and she wasn’t happy with this as a fan, “Ha rate batho shame, ake happy shame”.
Lamiez was out shopping with her nine-month-old baby and five-year-old nephew when she had fans asking to take pictures with her.
The DJ said many understood when she declined and went on to have light conversations with them.
“I was shocked when I logged on to Facebook and found the user had tagged me in her comment that I am unfriendly and don’t like people,” she said.
She said usually she would simply ignore the remarks but she was annoyed and had time to address the comment.
“Had I kept quiet they would have run with this narrative, I‘ll be damned if I allow anyone to create little stories online for clout,” she said.
“I will not sit back and allow attention-seeking people to tarnish all that I have worked so hard to build.”
The artist made it clear that her family comes first and she will not compromise her child’s safety to take pictures.
“The one thing I pride myself with is botho baka (ubuntu) and how I treat everyone with love and respect,” she said.
“Like everyone else, celebrities are human and can be shy, have bad days or simply don’t want to be friendly and, guess what, that is also okay. I urge you to treat us the same way you’d like to be treated.”
