Husband shoots wife during divorce proceedings

After 25 years of marriage, Jackson Morale allegedly shot and killed his wife during divorce proceedings.

Morale fled after Selinnah Mokwena Marole, the mother of their two children was shot dead whilst collecting belongings from her home at Pine Ridge in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga over the weekend.

Selinnah’s lifeless body was found in the bedroom with gunshot wounds.

Family spokesperson Thomas Malatjie told Scrolla.Africa his sister and her husband have been arguing for more than five years.

“When my sister attempted to escape the abuse she would move out and rent a place in town. But then they would fix things up and she would return to their house,” he said.

“She permanently moved out in the past few months and bought a house in Middelburg. Some of her clothes were still at her old house so she went there on Sunday to collect them.”

Malatjie said the man who helped Selinnah move heard gunshots coming from the house and her husband came out armed with a gun.

“He shouted at neighbours not to interfere and threatened to shoot them as well,” Malatjie said.

He said his sister was the breadwinner and she was the glue of the family and she was the kindest person.

“The way she died was brutal. She was not a violent person. We want justice,” he said.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said: “The matter is under investigation however police cannot rule out that the incident could be related to domestic violence. The suspect fled the scene soon after the shooting.”
