If Hungry Lions legal representative Karabo Tshabuse has his way, Jomo Cosmos could find itself being banned from ever participating in South African football again.
This is what Hungry Lions legal representative Karabo Tshabuse is fighting for.
“Even though the matter is being withdrawn, we are going to ask the prosecutor Zola Majavu to investigate, charge and possibly ban Jomo Cosmos from ever participating in football,” said Tshabuse.
This came after Cosmos withdrew their case against Lions after Ezenkosi were found guilty of falsifying documentation in an attempt to remain in the GladAfrica Championship.
Cosmos, who were relegated to the ABC Motsepe League, had filed a complaint against Lions and its player Tshepo Mohlala at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee.
Ezenkosi claimed that Lions had fielded the ineligible Mohlala who was registered as a Cosmos player at the time in 10 matches that they managed to accumulate 15 points.
If found guilty, those points would have been docked, thus relegating the club and keeping Cosmos in the GladAfrica Championship.
However, on Monday it emerged that there was no truth to the claims and that Cosmos had falsified documentation with a picture the club found on Facebook.
“While in preparation for the matter that was set down by the disciplinary committee on Monday, in representing Hungry Lions and player Thato Mohlala, we as the legal team received a notice of withdrawal from Jomo Cosmos’ attorneys,” said Tshabuse on SABC Sport.
“And we received it having presented them with evidence that the player was never registered for Jomo Cosmos for the time in question.”
Tshabuse said they found the falsified claims through a picture on Facebook.
“We also have evidence that shows that Jomo Cosmos have fabricated the supposed playing cards that they used in an attempt to prove the allegations, from a picture on Facebook which was taken last year when he was 21-years-old,” he said.
Prosecutor Majavu confirmed that Cosmos have been found guilty.
“Jomo Sono withdrew a complaint against Hungry Lions and forfeits R30,000 complaint fee. He was ordered to pay Lions legal expenses amounting to R150,000.
“He was also ordered to pay PSL costs of the DC, amount to be determined. On top of that they were ordered to issue a public apology to Lions,” said Majavu.
