- Johannesburg, Pretoria and Vereeniging will see highs of up to 32°C with clear skies and no chance of rain.
- The sunny spell will last through Sunday before cooler, cloudier weather moves in across Gauteng early next week.
Gauteng is in for a hot and sunny weekend, with clear skies and warm temperatures expected right across the province.
The South African Weather Service (Saws) says most areas will see highs between 27°C and 28°C before temperatures climb over the weekend.
On Friday, Vereeniging and Johannesburg are expected to reach around 30°C, while Pretoria will peak at 31°C. Minimum temperatures will range between 10°C and 12°C.
Saturday will be even hotter, with Johannesburg and Vereeniging both hitting 31°C and Pretoria reaching 32°C. Overnight temperatures will stay mild at around 15°C to 17°C.
Saws says the weather will remain dry, with humidity levels around 15% and light winds from the north. There is almost no chance of rain through Saturday.
But a shift is coming from Sunday. Clouds will start to build, and while it will still be hot, between 32°C and 33°C, the cooler weather is expected to move in early next week.
By Monday, temperatures should drop back into the mid-to-high 20s, bringing some relief after the weekend heat.
The clear skies are good news for anyone planning outdoor events, braais or getaways — but residents are urged to stay hydrated and take care in the sun.
