  • London police have handed evidence to government officials about a Premier League player accused of rape by three women.
  • The footballer, who is still playing, was first arrested in July 2022 but investigations have continued since then.

London police have given prosecutors a detailed file of evidence about a Premier League footballer accused of rape.

The player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, continues to play for his team despite his first arrest in July 2022.

The star, who is in his 30s and also represents his national team, faces allegations from three different women.

After the initial arrest, police detained him again over two separate rape allegations from a second woman.

These accusations related to incidents in April and June 2021. Both cases were later dropped due to timing issues with the legislation.

In February 2023, police questioned the footballer again about sexual offence claims from a third woman.

“We are investigating several reports of sexual offences allegedly committed between 2021 and 2023,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said, Daily Mail reported.

“We have submitted evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service and our detectives continue to work with them.”

The spokesperson added: “The women who reported the incidents continue to receive support from our officers.”

The player’s club has not commented on the matter.
