A 17-year-old girl’s posts went viral on social media after she shared videos of gifts she had received from her boyfriend, who is claimed to be a married pastor from the Pentecostal Protestant Church in Buhle Park, Germiston.
Mini Enhle posted a video on TikTok celebrating her relationship with the pastor, showcasing the new iPhone 15 Pro Max that he gifted her. The teenager said the phone was a fourth-anniversary gift.
Mini is said to be in Grade 12.
A post on X from MDN News says she allegedly started dating the pastor when she was only 14 and that Build One South Africa leader Mmusi Maimane had called for the man to be arrested.
Social media users criticised the pastor for the age difference between the two.
“This guy must go to prison [it’s] a statutory rape sleeping with a 14-year-old girl,” one user wrote.
“I’m interested in hearing from her parents. Something tells me we might be in for a shock.”
Some social media users said Mini’s mother is aware of the relationship between her daughter and the pastor.
In terms of the law, children under 16 may not consent to any sexual activity because they are minors.
Even if the minor has voluntarily agreed to take part in sexual activity, it is still unlawful and the adult will face statutory rape charges.
In response to the backlash on social media, both Mini and the church deactivated their social media accounts.
