Game sends Koo beans ‘into space’

Game Stores, the major retailer, did something really cool for Leap Day 2024. They sent a can of Koo baked beans way up into the sky with a balloon.

And it wasn’t just any balloon. It was a special weather balloon which they launched from their store in Potchefstroom.

The experiment was a marketing campaign ahead of a “Leap Day” sale which the store has described as “out of this world.”

They made sure this whole adventure was good for the environment. The can soared into the sky and then returned to the ground without the beans being spilled.

The can of beans went about 38 kilometres high but didn’t get to space. The line that says you’re in space is 100 kilometres up.

This isn’t the first time someone sent something towards the heavens. A YouTuber named Tom Scott sent garlic bread up in 2018, and when it came back, they ate it.

Michelle Kemp from Game said that people are buying lots of basic food from them because they want to save money and still have nice things to eat, MyBroadband reported.

“Our customers love baked beans,” she said.
