Petrol prices are set to fall by over R2 per litre in the first week of September.
This is according to the month-end data released by the Central Energy Fund which shows a stronger rand and lower international petroleum costs.
The price of both grades of petrol are expected to go down by over R2 a litre while diesel will be reduced by just over R1 per litre.
The price of illuminating paraffin is also on track to fall by just over R1 a litre.
The diesel price was also due for a decrease of more than R2 but that changed after the oil price recovered from lows reached earlier this month.
Petrol is currently at R25.42 per litre and diesel at R24.52 per litre, R7 more than it was a year ago.
The prices went sky high earlier this year after Russia invaded Ukraine, which pushed up the price of international oil.
Oil prices are currently above $102 a barrel while the rand was trading slightly stronger at R16.92 against the dollar on Monday.
