  • Lebohang Mokoena said Relebohile Mofokeng should join Monaco because the French league is the best place to start a career.
  • The former Pirates star warned that Relebohile Mofokeng must get physically stronger to survive against big defenders in European football.

Former Orlando Pirates star Lebohang “Cheeseboy” Mokoena said Relebohile Mofokeng should leave South Africa for France. This follows reports that French club Monaco offered a lot of money to the Buccaneers for the young player.

Mokoena spoke about the possible move on the Soccerbeat podcast. He said the 21-year-old talent must take the chance to play overseas. He believes the French league is a great place for the Bafana Bafana star to begin his career in Europe.

Mokoena said if he were in Mofokeng’s place he would take the first flight to France when the season ends. He said Monaco has many young players and plays a good style of football. This would help Mofokeng settle in quickly at the club.

But the former star also gave the young player a warning. He said Mofokeng needs to work on his physical strength to play against big European defenders. Mokoena said the defenders in France are very large and can be nearly two metres tall.

He said Mofokeng showed some physical weakness when he played in a friendly match against Panama. Mokoena believes getting stronger is the only way for the young star to survive the tough games in the French league.

Orlando Pirates have not said if they will sell their star player to the French side. Fans are waiting to see if Mofokeng will make the big move to Europe after a great season in the local league. Mokoena said Mofokeng has the talent to play in one of the best leagues in the world.
