It’s not surprising that being a Premier League footballer often attracts the attention of the opposite sex – but those are not the women players care for, according to Nicklas Bendtner.

The former Arsenal striker claimed footballers prefer the services of sex workers over hooking up with strangers because of the fear of possibly being exposed in the media or even being blackmailed.

“It’s less risky than picking up girls while out on the town. You hardly dare make it with a civilian any longer. Not when you’re a famous footballer,” Bendtner is quoted as telling the Daily Star.

“‘I know about loads of incidents involving prostitutes. But I know of just as many stories about extortion via social media.”

Bendtner added that players used to share their sex stories with each other as a tradition.

“Believe me, everyone in my industry has heard of someone who’s been at it, especially in

England where it’s a grand tradition to share your cock-and-ball stories with a full audience.”

The former Denmark international then recalled getting involved with a “civilian” and was extorted into paying for her breast augmentation surgery.

“One of the girls I went with came back and claimed I made her pregnant and there’s a price if she’s going to do something about it,” Bendtner said.

Bendtner spent nine years with Arsenal, playing 108 times for the North London club scoring 24 goals during his time.

After leaving the Premier League in 2014, Bendtner went on to play for Juventus, Wolfsburg, Nottingham Forest and Rosenborg.

Despite not being considered a world-class player domestically, the same cannot be said of when he put on his national jersey for Denmark.

He scored a total of 30 goals in just 81 appearances for Denmark.

In June 2021 Bendtner announced his retirement from football, stating at the time: “All your life you play football and from one day to the next it ends.”
