Finland’s prime minister has had to apologise for the second time in the space of a week after a picture emerged of two topless women kissing in the office of her official residence.
Sanna Marin said on Tuesday that the picture – showing two of Marin’s friends kissing whilst covering their chests – was “inappropriate”.
Marin made another public apology last Thursday after a video surfaced of her dancing with her friends at a private party, leading to her opponents labelling her a “party PM”.
The leaked video caused such a stir that Marin agreed to take a drugs test, for which she tested negative this week.
But much like the party, there is nothing much that’s scandalous about the picture. A patriotic sign reading “Finland” covers the chests of the women, and Marin said that photo was taken after they attended a music festival and just before they hopped in the sauna.
But still it prompted a massive outcry from opposition politicians.
Marin’s supporters rallied to her side on social media. Many women in Finland shared videos of themselves dancing in a show of solidarity with the prime minister.
