South African rapper Emtee is threatening to take legal action against Mike’s Kitchen for publicly humiliating him.
The South African rapper wrote on social media that Mike’s Kitchen in Parktown kicked him out because of his tattoos and because he smelled like marijuana.
He said it was bad what they did to him and his guys at the restaurant.
“On fonem. I don’t know what else to do bruh. Seems like fonem want me to shut up cos it’s ‘bad for the brand’. I’m like damn! A nigga can’t express himself as a South African citizen,” he said.
“My heart is broken. Not knowing who the fuck I am. I can’t talk to anyone about this cos everyone just wants me to shut up.”
He said he will not rest until something is done.
Emtee wants an apology from Mike’s Kitchen, or he will take them to court for racism.
Mike’s Kitchen responded by clarifying it is not associated with the facility where Emtee claims to have been mistreated.
“We at Mike’s Kitchen want to clarify issues regarding the recent reported incident involving, amongst others, artist Emtee at Mikes Heritage House,” they said in a statement.
“Mike’s Kitchen does not own or operate the store in question, nor has it been affiliated with Mikes Heritage House for some time now. We understand that the store operates under a name similar to that of the Mike’s Kitchen Brand and we are incorrectly linked to this incident.”
