Elaine is following in Brenda’s footsteps

Elaine is following in the footsteps of the great Brenda Fassie, selling thousands of units of just one song and becoming one of the very few South African female artists to do so.

The 21-year-old announced the news on Instagram that her single from ‘Elements’ EP titled ‘You’re The One’ has hit seven platinum plaques with over 210 thousand units sold.

It comes as no surprise as the EP as a whole, with seven songs, had already made Elaine the most streamed female artist on both Spotify and Apple by mid-2020.

Elaine, whose full name is Ndivhuwo Elaine Mukheli, reportedly made Elements which was certified Platinum in August 2020 while doing her law studies at the University of Witwatersrand in 2019.

Shortly thereafter she was signed by America’s Columbia Records under Sony after she was nominated at the SA Music Awards in August 2020 for Best R&B Album.

The star from Pretoria did an amazing job topping the charts while she was still independent. There is no telling what she will do this year with Columbia Records as back up and the seven platinum plaques to kick-start 2021.
