Shawdy P is short for Shorty Patricia.

When the rap star was growing up, her friends teased her because she was so tiny.

But Patricia Mokoena has turned that body shaming into something positive. She is now a versatile rapper, a dynamo of the dance circuit.

The 27-year-old Patricia from Tembisa in Ekurhuleni said music has always been in her blood.

Shawdy P arrived with the hit single Shushi in 2018. Everyone wanted to move to it.

“In Shushi, I featured one of the best female artists from Namibia and the collaboration was a big dance hit.”

Her performances are electric and her dance moves provocative.

Her sexy stage dress code has also made her a must-watch for men who cannot get enough of watching her.

“I am a performer. My dress code must say so. I love what I do and fans love it too,” she said.

She said during the lockdown, she has been busy working on her upcoming EP which has six hot new songs.

“I believe that South Africa will be amazed at what my EP has to offer. I want to keep the nation dancing during the festive season.”

She said the great thing about her upcoming EP is that it has Afro-pop as well as the Kwaito feel of music inspired by the likes of Mafikizolo and the late Mandoza.

“I promise to keep people of all races and ages dancing to this EP.”
