Rap artist Dan Mwale brought along Sauceman Guluva on a seven-track collaborative EP titled No Skips which was released under Floggnation Records on Friday.
From track number 1 titled “No Other Way” the duo lets you know what they are about, as they ease you in with chilled vibes into the 20-minutes long EP.
The duo from Soweto switch to Zulu on track number two, titled “Vimba”, showcasing their multilingual rapping skills while still holding the first track’s relaxed tone.
On track three, “Shooter”, Dan and Sauceman up the tempo with hip hop as they try to hook any fans who are not yet under their spell.
The duo carries the energy from track number three to the rest of the project with “Keeping The One Eye Open” and “Eye Don’t Know”. These two songs explore common themes of insight, paranoia and naivete using the metaphor of the eye.
The only featured artist on the EP is Kemet, who helps Dan and Sauceman slay the “Three Headed Dragon” on track number 6. He comes through and delivers without overshadowing the duo.
In No Skips which has an art cover of a dragon, Dan and Sauceman have been growing noticeably under Floggnation Records.
Dan, who was featured on HYPE Magazine in December 2021 and Sauceman who recently joined Dan, are in sync on this project. This could create difficulties for a new listener, who may find it hard to tell their voices apart on several of the tracks.
