The KZN ANC has accused former Ukhozi FM DJ and TV personality Ngizwe Mchunu of being used to attack ANC leadership.
On Sunday afternoon, Mchunu launched a scathing attack on KZN ANC Chairperson Sihle Zikalala and Secretary Mdumiseni Ntuli.
“Zikalala and Ntuli have destroyed the ANC in KZN. [Minister of Police] Bheki Cele should be ashamed of himself. He even celebrated when I was arrested. Imagine a most corrupt leader like Cele, celebrating the arrest of an innocent person like myself,” said Mchunu.
He described them as disgraceful leaders who needed to resign with immediate effect.
Mchunu was arrested in July and charged with incitement to commit public violence during the violent unrest that month.
This angered the ANC in KZN who accused Mchunu of being exploited by members of the party who wanted to advance their own agenda.
Mchunu also attacked Minister Senzo Mchunu and accused him of misleading President Cyril Ramaphosa.
ANC spokesperson in KZN Nhlakanipho Ntombela said they had a problem with ANC members who are cowardly and resort to getting people like Mchunu to attack the ANC leadership.
“They are scared of going straight to the leadership so they use people like Mchunu to fight their political battles. These people will continue to do this because we are heading to regional elective conferences in KZN,” said Ntombela.
He also revealed that the party is also suffering because members such as Mchunu join leaders like former president Jacob Zuma in the ANC before they become members of the organisation.
