Disaster-masterclass as Felix sees red in Blues debut

By Razeen Gutta

It was a West London derby day to forget for Chelsea fans as they watched their side suffer a 2-1 defeat at Fulham. To top it off, their new signing Joao Felix was also sent off while making his debut in the Premier League.

Brazilian attacker Willian opened the scoring for Fulham against his former club; and despite the lack of celebration out of respect towards the Blues faithful, the strike would certainly have hurt them.

Kalidou Koulibaly equalised from close-range shortly after the break, but instead of giving them the lead, their new boy got a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Kenny Tete.

Carlos Vinicius gave the hosts the lead in the final quarter, with the Brazilian towering above Timothy Chalobah to send a powerful header past Kepa in the Chelsea goal.

The win sends Fulham above Liverpool into sixth place, albeit with the Reds having two games still to play.

For Chelsea, Graham Potter’s future will be intensely discussed across the globe yet again, with the Blues struggling in 10th with one game remaining before the campaign reaches the halfway mark for them.
