Former Ukhozi FM DJ Ngizwe “Zulu Charmer” Mchunu may have foiled his chances of returning to radio as a presenter.
This is after he lashed Gagasi FM management for being unprofessional after they cancelled his interview at the last minute.
The talkative Mchunu was scheduled to appear as a guest on The Hangout show with Zisto Ntombela on Friday.
However, station management changed the arrangement and opted to rather call him.
The move angered Mchunu who had already posted on his social networks about his Gagasi debut.
“What the management of Gagasi has done is unprofessional. Now, what do I tell my legions of fans and followers? This makes me look like I was lying. This is not on man,” raged Mchunu on his online radio station.
Zisto says she was told that her guest Mchunu must not bother to come to the studio as the interview would be done via telephone.
Sources say the management was considering the idea to bring Mchunu on board because of his popularity, but after his public bashing, they seem to be hesitant.
Khulekani Shandu, the spokesperson for the Durban commercial radio station, says there was a miscommunication between the station and Mchunu.
“Anyway he was merely set to be a guest on the show. As to whether we will invite him in future, that I can not commit myself to saying,” Shandu told Scrolla.Africa.
Mchunu has an online radio which he launched in 2019 after being dismissed by Ukhozi FM for misconduct. He has over 25,000 subscribers. He uses the platform to tackle several issues including updates on his pending court case.
He is currently out on bail after being charged with inciting public violence and breaching the Disaster Management Act during the July 2021 unrest in South Africa.
