Daliwonga tops the charts with “Abo Mvelo”

Sizwe Sibiya

For two weeks running, the amapiano song “Abo Mvelo” has held onto its spot at the top of the charts – despite not even having an official music video.

Sitting at number one on the iTunes top 100 chart, and number two on YouTube trending music chart, the song by Daliwonga Matiwane – featuring Sleazy, MJ and Mellow – first dropped on 18 March. It has been unstoppable since then, killing every weekend and every amapiano song in its path.

The 27-year-old from Diepkloof in Soweto, Gauteng, who is also amapiano star Sir Trill’s younger brother, has not released the official music video for the hit song. But he did share a visual, which has been mistaken for an official video by his fans.

With a following of 35,000 subscribers on Daliwonga’s YouTube account, “Abo Mvelo” has managed to collect over 1.5-million views since its premier on the music streaming platform.
