Fernando Da Cruz has arrived in South Africa to start work as Kaizer Chiefs head coach.

The French coach will lead Amakhosi before the 2026/27 season after being named head coach in mid-June.

Chiefs confirmed his arrival through their official channels.

Da Cruz first had to finish his job as technical director of the Moroccan Football Federation before joining Chiefs.

The 53-year-old arrives a few weeks into Chiefsโ€™ pre-season.

โ€œIโ€™m very happy to be here. The Club has always held a special place in my heart, and Iโ€™ve kept a close eye on its journey over the past two years,โ€ said Da Cruz, The Citizen reported.

โ€œKaizer Chiefs is a massive institution with passionate supporters and a proud history.โ€

Da Cruz said his first focus is on the players.

โ€œMy focus now is on building a strong connection with the players, instilling a winning mentality, and working together to achieve the success our fans deserve,โ€ he said.

โ€œThe journey ahead will demand hard work and unity, but Iโ€™m confident we will rise to the challenge.โ€

Da Cruz has worked with Chiefs before.

He was part of former head coach Nasreddine Nabiโ€™s technical team during pre-season before the 2024/25 campaign.

But he left before the season started to take up the job with the Moroccan Football Federation.

Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr welcomed him back to the club.

โ€œWe would like to welcome coach Da Cruz to Kaizer Chiefs,โ€ said Motaung Jr.

โ€œHis arrival marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for the Club, and we look forward to seeing his vision take shape with the team.โ€

Motaung Jr said Chiefs believe the partnership can bring fresh energy.

โ€œWith the passion of our loyal supporters and the commitment of our players, we believe this partnership will bring renewed energy and success as we prepare for the upcoming season.โ€
