Fernando Da Cruz has arrived in South Africa to start work as Kaizer Chiefs head coach.
The French coach will lead Amakhosi before the 2026/27 season after being named head coach in mid-June.
Chiefs confirmed his arrival through their official channels.
Da Cruz first had to finish his job as technical director of the Moroccan Football Federation before joining Chiefs.
The 53-year-old arrives a few weeks into Chiefsโ pre-season.
โIโm very happy to be here. The Club has always held a special place in my heart, and Iโve kept a close eye on its journey over the past two years,โ said Da Cruz, The Citizen reported.
โKaizer Chiefs is a massive institution with passionate supporters and a proud history.โ
Da Cruz said his first focus is on the players.
โMy focus now is on building a strong connection with the players, instilling a winning mentality, and working together to achieve the success our fans deserve,โ he said.
โThe journey ahead will demand hard work and unity, but Iโm confident we will rise to the challenge.โ
Da Cruz has worked with Chiefs before.
He was part of former head coach Nasreddine Nabiโs technical team during pre-season before the 2024/25 campaign.
But he left before the season started to take up the job with the Moroccan Football Federation.
Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr welcomed him back to the club.
โWe would like to welcome coach Da Cruz to Kaizer Chiefs,โ said Motaung Jr.
โHis arrival marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for the Club, and we look forward to seeing his vision take shape with the team.โ
Motaung Jr said Chiefs believe the partnership can bring fresh energy.
โWith the passion of our loyal supporters and the commitment of our players, we believe this partnership will bring renewed energy and success as we prepare for the upcoming season.โ
