DA backs talks to form government

The DA’s leader John Steenhuisen and a team of top party officials are continuing their efforts to form governments at the national and provincial levels.

It is a strategic move in the absence of a clear majority for any party.

The team includes current and former leaders: Helen Zille, Ivan Meyer, Alan Winde, Siviwe Gwarube, Tony Leon, and Ryan Coetzee.

The DA’s decision to engage in talks to form governments at all levels is driven, says the party, by its commitment to uphold the Constitution, ensure stability, and foster economic growth, all of which are crucial for the nation’s progress.

However, it will be up to the DA’s top leaders to decide about forming coalitions and governments.
DA spokesperson Solly Malatsi said: “The DA is talking to other parties to form stable governments that can improve the future for all South Africans,” News24 reported.
