Kwaggafontein – A Mpumalanga serial rapist has been handed four life sentences for raping several victims. The Kwaggafontein Regional Court sentenced Themba Nkambule, 32, from Ekangala, on Tuesday, 26 November. Nkambule attacked his victims at night, dragging them into the bush and raping them. Three of his victims, aged between 14 and 17, were each attacked twice. The crimes happened between 2011 and 2019. He admitted to all charges. The court added his name to the National Register for Sex Offenders and banned him from working with children or owning a gun.
Thohoyandou – Police are looking for two men involved in a house robbery in Ha-Budeli, Block B, on Saturday, 25 November. The men, who spoke isiZulu, robbed a 43-year-old municipal worker. They stole her cellphone, cash, and her white Toyota Fortuner, which had a laptop and traffic equipment inside.
Mankweng – A 30-year-old man has been arrested for scamming a woman out of R592,000. Baekane Bush Hlongwane, from Ga-Molepo village, tricked the woman with a fake deal linked to a funeral parlour. He lied about having a contract to supply water and owning the machines needed but claimed he needed money for logistics. He will appear in the Mankweng Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 29 November.
Bloemfontein – A man who raped his friend’s girlfriend has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Twenty-year-old Tshoanelo Thabanelo was convicted of raping his friend’s girlfriend in June 2019. The 22-year-old victim had been drinking with her boyfriend and Thabanelo at his home in Kagisong. After her boyfriend left, Thabanelo raped her multiple times.
Thohoyandou – Police are also searching for four men who killed a man during a robbery on 9 November near the Boxer store. The man was attacked while the robbers tried to steal his belongings. When he fought back, they stabbed him and ran away.
