On Sunday South Africa recorded its highest-ever increase in Covid-19 cases: 1,160 new cases in a single day.
76% of the new cases are in the Western Cape.
The record number of new cases is partly due to increased testing, with 21,314 tests done in the previous 24 hours.
The country’s total now stands at 15,515 confirmed cases. 264 people have died of the virus in South Africa, while 7,006 have recovered from it.
