Cape Town police are on the hunt for three women and a man linked to a jewellery theft worth R1.35 million at the V&A Waterfront.

The group allegedly walked into a jewellery store at Alfred Mall on 22 February, pretending to be interested in the items but left without paying for the pieces they had tried on.

SAPS spokesperson Anelisiwe Manyana said the group arrived at around 1pm and asked to see several items.

“One of the women tried on some jewellery before the group left the store,” said Manyana.

But a few minutes later, they came back. While the shop assistant was still putting the items back, one of the women asked to see a pendant again.

“She was helped — and then they all left the shop,” said Manyana.

It was only afterwards that the assistant noticed two rings and a pendant were missing from the display cabinet. The items are worth R1.35 million.

By the time security was alerted, the suspects had already left the V&A Waterfront.

Police are now asking anyone who can help identify the group to come forward.

If you recognise them or have any information, contact Detective Warrant Officer Abrahams on 082 5222 572 or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
