- Three groups dropped their complaint against MacG after Minnie said she would take legal action herself.
- They said they’ll support Minnie in court and keep fighting for women’s and children’s rights.
Podcaster MacG is no longer facing a human rights complaint after the groups who reported him decided to step back.
Two groups, Somandla Clothing and the Nduduzo Memela Foundation, had reported MacG to the South African Human Rights Commission. They were upset about comments he made about TV star Minnie Dlamini, which many people felt were rude and disrespectful.
The two groups were later joined by another one called the Bipartite Alliance, which also showed support for Minnie.
But now all three groups have backed off.
That’s because Minnie said she will take MacG to court herself. The groups said they’ll let her take charge and will support her through the legal process.
In a joint statement, Somandla Clothing and the Nduduzo Memela Foundation said: “We thank Minnie Dlamini for recognising our efforts in standing up for her. From now on, we are withdrawing our complaint against MacG from the SAHRC.”
Even though they’ve dropped the case, the groups said they’ll keep fighting for women and children’s rights in other ways.
Minnie hasn’t shared any more details about her court case yet.
