- Ngobamakhosi Ntombela says he is a prince hidden in eSwatini to prepare for the Ntombela throne in Babanango one day.
- The royal family says Inkosi Vukani Ntombela is the only head, and public searches found no proof for Ngobamakhosi online.
The Ntombela royal family in KwaZulu-Natal says Fihliwe Ngobamakhosi Ntombela is not their future chief.
Ngobamakhosi has become visible through March and March protests against illegal immigrants. He has also used the protests to support King Misuzulu kaZwelithini’s call for KwaZulu-Natal to be renamed KwaZulu.
In interviews, Ngobamakhosi said he is a prince from the Ntombela clan in Babanango. He also said he lives in eSwatini, where he is being hidden and prepared to take over the Ntombela chieftaincy.
The claim has angered members of the Ntombela royal family.
Sphamandla Ntombela told Scrolla.Africa the clan has only one head, and it is not Ngobamakhosi.
“This boy is spreading lies that are very dangerous as he is misleading the public,” said Sphamandla.
“As the clan we have only one head, which is Vukani kaMhlabunzima Ntombela. He is the rightful heir on the Ntombela throne. We don’t have anyone other than him.”
Sphamandla said the family does not know why Ngobamakhosi says he is hiding in eSwatini.
“We don’t even know what he is exactly doing in eSwatini as he lied that he is in hiding to be prepared to take over the throne of our clan,” he said.
Prince Cijimpi, the uncle of Inkosi Vukani kaMhlabunzima, also rejected Ngobamakhosi’s claim.
“We’ve never heard of him and we are surprised by his stance that he is the prince who is set to take over the throne,” he said.
He said Inkosi Vukani is already on the throne and no one is challenging him.
Public reports have called Ngobamakhosi a prince, but Scrolla.Africa found no public record proving that he is next in line to lead the Ntombela clan.
Ngobamakhosi is understood to be staying at Nancefield Hostel.
He could not be reached by the time of publication.
