On the penultimate weekend of Premier League football, the Citizens reclaimed their spot at the top. Meanwhile at the City Ground, a late Chelsea comeback resurrected their European aspirations.

Ahead of the mouthwatering Old Trafford clash between Manchester United and Arsenal, Manchester City did what they had to do at lunch-time in London.

Pep Guardiola’s side thumped Fulham 4-0 away from home, mathematically sending Liverpool out of the title race and piling the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s Gunners ahead of their ever-classic fixture against the Red Devils.

A Josko Gvardiol brace came alongside goals from Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez to ensure that City have now won each of their last seven league games by at least two goals.

On the goal rush, Tottenham Hotspur finally returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at home to Burnley while Newcastle United could only manage a 1-1 draw with Brighton.

The Magpies’ result made the late game even more interesting as Chelsea found themselves 2-1 down away at Forest with just ten minutes to play.

Willy Boly cancelled out Mykhaylo Mudryk’s opener before Callum Hudson-Odoi put the hosts in front as survival for Nottingham appeared to have been secured.

But Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson had other plans as the Blues turned things around late on to seal the win in the five-goal thriller.

Forest are still all but safe barring a final day miracle after West Ham defeated Luton Town 3-1 at the London Stadium.

However the Blues’ victory leaves Mauricio Pochettino’s men level on 57 points with Newcastle in sixth — with the possibility of European football next season still very much on the cards.

Sunday’s only game kicks off at 17:30 with all of Manchester, red and blue, hoping United get the job done against an in-form Gunners unit.
