  • Chiefs coach Nabi says the team will bounce back once players fully understand his game plan.
  • The Nedbank Cup match against Stellenbosch FC offers Chiefs a chance to end their trophy drought.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says it’s only a matter of time before the team gets back to winning ways.

Speaking before Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup match against Stellenbosch FC on Saturday in Gqeberha, Nabi shared his plans to bring glory back to the Soweto giants.

“It’s not about confidence, but the process is a scientific process designed in steps,” Nabi said at the Nedbank headquarters in Sandton on Thursday.

“And when you understand or when you see where you are and what you need for the future… For example, when you have the assimilation of the modern game and players have assimilated everything about your ideas, then it’s just about time to get where you want to be.”

The Tunisian coach, who joined Chiefs this season after leaving Moroccan team AS FAR Rabat, believes his players now understand his style better.

“Teams like Kaizer Chiefs sometimes get in tough spaces; let’s say they get ill, but they never die. It’s just a matter of time before they wake up,” he said.

Chiefs have struggled to find their rhythm this season under Nabi. But the Nedbank Cup gives them a chance to end their 10-year wait for a trophy.

They face Stellenbosch FC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for a place in the semifinals.
