Cassper Nyovest capped off a brilliant 2022 by taking home his first ever GQ Man of the Year Award, grabbing the prize of Entertainer of the Year from the esteemed men’s magazine.
Rapper Nyovest, whose real name is Refiloe Maele Phoolo, had a weekend to remember. On Sunday he was revealed as the winner of the coveted award.
Two days earlier, on Friday, US superstar Kelly Rowland was singing the rap star’s praises to IOL, describing him as a “great”.
Nyovest took to social media on Sunday to share what could be his last big win of the year.
On his Instagram account he posted a photo and a short video along with a caption, “God did!! I been wanting this nod for real.”
His win does not come as a surprise, considering the notable impact he made in the entertainment industry between 2021 and 2022.
Whether it was the introduction of South African celebrity boxing matches or the return of his highly-acclaimed FillUp concerts, Nyovest always knows how to market his brand.
He has also diversified his brand by releasing the Root of Fame sneaker and alcoholic beverage Billiato.
Very few have even come close to his level of entertainment.
His nod came as an early Christmas gift. Indeed he treated himself to an early Christmas present with a custom-made jewellery piece, which he revealed on his social media page.
