Casemiro sees red as Arsenal cruise on

Manchester United were left red-faced in two successive gameweeks, failing to score yet again.

Wins for Arsenal and Newcastle United also meant that Sunday was far from a super one for the Red Devils.

A first-half red card for Casemiro at Old Trafford was the new signing’s second in United colours; and being a man down made things tough for Erik ten Hag’s men.

Casemiro, who has been vital to United’s resurgence this season, will miss his next four games as he was sent off for the second time this season.

Southampton were dominant. They outplayed the hosts for both possession and attempts; looking miles ahead of the last placed side the log depicts them to be.

United could not break them down and it ended goalless, much to the frustration of the fans.

Elsewhere, the stage was set for a London derby, with Craven Cottage and Fulham hosting the league leaders Arsenal.

The Gunners were unstoppable with Leandro Trossard becoming the first man to ever record three first-half assists in the Premier League era.

Gabriel Magalhães got the first before Gabriel Martinelli and captain Martin Odegaard got the second and third to seal the result long before the final whistle.

Also in London, West Ham managed a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa to pull them out of the relegation zone, while over on Tyneside, Newcastle United defeated Wolves 2-1 to keep their European hopes alive.

Two more games await on Wednesday evening before the gameweek comes to a close, with Brighton hosting Crystal Palace and Southampton in action again as they welcome Brentford. Btford.
