PICK OF THE SPORT: The Wimbledon tournament is set for its grand finale this weekend with history waiting to be made.
No African female has ever lifted the Wimbledon crown – but that could all change with if Ons Jabeur wins this weekend.
The Tunisian has already written herself into the record books by becoming the first Arab player, male or female, to be in a Wimbledon semi-final.
Once first seed Iga Swiatek was knocked out of the tournament, Jabeur became the favourite to lift the crown.
And she plans to emerge victorious when she faces Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan in the final.
The Wimbledon women’s final is scheduled for Saturday 3pm with the men’s final following the next day at the same time.
Novak Djokovick remains in the final four with rival Rafael Nadal pulling out of the tournament due to injury.
Nadal and Djokovic were on course to meet each other in the final but following the Spaniard’s announcement, Djokovic became the favourite to lift the crown.
Nadal was due to play Nick Kyrgios in the semi-final on Friday with the Australian being given a walkover to book his first-ever Grand Slam final.
Djokovic will take on British hopeful Cameron Norrie on Friday in the only men’s singles semi-final, kickoff at 2.30pm.
