Broos bruised by Ntseki’s assistant coach snub

Only last week, new Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos was excited about bringing on board Molefi Ntseki, but Safa have apparently kicked those plans into touch.

It appears likely that Broos will have an assistant coach pushed onto him whether he likes it or not.

Speaking to SAfm a few days after landing in South Africa last week, Broos waxed lyrical about Ntseki’s knowledge of the game, even calling him an encyclopedia of football after having met him twice.

But the mother body denied that Ntseki is back in the Bafana Bafana set-up.

“Contrary to widespread news, Safa would like to clarify to all football fans that the association has not appointed any local assistant coach for Bafana Bafana,” said Safa on Twitter.

Ntseki’s agent Thato Matuka told Scrolla.Africa he doesn’t see his client returning to the national team.

“We met with Safa but didn’t agree on the terms and conditions. It’s true the new coach recommended Molefi but it seems Safa have other ideas. So that’s it. We move on and wish them all the best,” said Matuka.

Broos has announced Belgian-Macedonian Cedomir Janevsk as his foreign assistant. It remains to be seen which local figure Bafana Bafana will end up with after his preferred choice is clearly not wanted near Safa House.

It is speculated that the Safa hierarchy is not comfortable with working with someone who has just forced them to pay a hefty settlement after terminating his contract with two years remaining.

Safa CEO Tebogo Motlanthe said they are working around the clock to secure a local assistant for Broos.
