While a huge sum of Blxckie’s fans are male, his recent project is strictly for women.
After releasing the deluxe version of his 4LUV EP on Women’s Day this week, Blxckie has made it clear that it’s for the women – not for male fans, but for their girlfriends.
“Hawu bafethu, 4LUV IS NOT FOR THE NDODAZ.”
“It’s for amathekeni enu. Focus,” twitted the Durban-born rapper on Wednesday.
First released on 18 February with only six tracks, including hits like “Cold” and “Umoya”, the whole 10 tracks of the deluxe version are a taste of the R&B side of the artist, with a hint of amapiano drum-locks on the instruments, produced by London Rhodes.
“So many open wounds but I’m still holding on,” the versatile rapper sings on the sixth track of the EP titled “Your all”.
But what is more interesting is the set of four new songs which came with features from one of A-Reece, Garde and Nicole Elocin. Elocin’s performance on “Fortune Teller” is classic R&B, which can be compared to the likes of Fantasia and Brandy.
A-Reece, who barely takes features from outside his clique, sneaks in on the intro of track nine titled “Sneaky” with these lyrics: “She a ten and she smoke, We got Don Julio. I’m on ten, never low.”
