In a bid to have his missing daughter returned home safely, Bishop Paul Chimpara has offered rival churches his church and congregation.
The bishop’s daughter, Kayla Chimpara (pictured), was kidnapped on the church grounds two Sundays ago during a church service by three armed men in Dilopye, north of Tshwane.
The mother identified one of the suspects as a member of another church, so the family believes the kidnapping is linked to church rivalry.
The distraught father said he would rather lose his big church and prophetic gift than his daughter.
“If I am indeed a gifted and chosen prophet to lead this church and save lives I will be able to rebuild the church from the ground again.
“When I decided to open my own church in 2018, I started with a handful of members but today I have over 500 members,” he said.
Chimpara added that ever since opening his church he has been sleeping with one eye open.
He has been receiving life-threatening messages from unknown men demanding that he close his church.
“They have brought their threats to action. I surrender and plead for my daughter’s safe return.
“With each day passing without finding her, I fear for her life. Where are they keeping her, is she safe and warm or scared?”
He said he fears that the kidnappers might kill her to spite him.
Temba police spokesperson Sergeant Herman Moremi confirmed that the search for the missing girl was ongoing.
“No one has been arrested but we are following all the leads we are receiving from the family.
“Anyone with information that may lead to the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact the police on 08600 10111.”
