Big Brother Mzansi Season 5 winner Sweet Guluva has spoken out after people used his name to ask fans for money without his permission.
He went on social media to explain that he doesn’t need donations, but some fans still want to give, so he shared his official banking details to stop scammers.
“Bolokhuzan’, we’ve learned that some individuals are falsely using my name to collect money, misleading fans and supporters,” he said on X.
“To be clear, we do not need donations, but we understand that some of you want to give out of your own free will. To ensure that any contributions are safe and go directly to us, we are sharing our official banking details. This is only for those who choose to give—there’s no pressure at all. Do you understand me?”
But many fans were not buying it. Some asked why he would take donations after winning R2 million, while others accused him of being greedy.
One person wrote: “This is like saying, ‘We don’t want your donations, but we want them.’ Someone will be donating R200 from their NSFAS money. Milk them, tsotsi yase KZN.”
Another added: “Money isn’t bad, but loving money too much is. You should be donating, not asking for donations.”
A third person said: “How can someone who won R2 million still want donations? That’s just greed!”
Despite the backlash, Sweet Guluva thanked his fans and gave a shout-out to celebrities who stood by him, including Ngizwe Mchunu, Bravo B, DJ Zinhle, Somizi Mhlongo and Cici.
He said his main concern was to protect supporters from scammers while making it safe for those who truly wanted to contribute.
“We appreciate the love and support and want to make sure no one falls for scams. If you choose to give, please use the official details to make sure your support reaches us directly,” he said.
“uSweet Guluva is’gebengu esingayibambi inkunzi sin’thanda kakhulu.”
The Big Brother Mzansi winner is also set to pursue his music dreams with a new collaboration alongside DJ Zinhle.
