BB’s Yolanda gets royal welcome in Limpopo

Despite the disappointment of being disqualified two weeks before the Big Brother 2024 finale, Yolanda Munyai’s spirits were lifted by her many fans in her hometown of Phalaborwa, in Limpopo.

The town threw a grand homecoming party over the weekend for the 32-year-old model and sales representative.

The celebration took place at the Foskor Sports Ground in Namakgale township, where Yolanda was greeted by fans dancing and playing music in her honour.

Accompanied by her friend and former Big Brother housemate, Mitch, along with her family, Yolanda enjoyed performances from various dance groups and received a special portrait from a local mural artist.

Sharing her gratitude, she spoke to fans, took photos and even danced the Tsonga traditional Xibelana dance with attendees.

“Thank you for voting for me with your hard-earned money. I appreciate the love you continue to show towards me,” she said.

Yolanda shared her journey to the Big Brother house, emphasising her initial lack of interest in the show due to not having DStv, but eventually being encouraged by a friend to apply.

Her vibrant personality ensured that she secured a spot just two days before the deadline.

The homecoming event was organised by community builder Edmond Mbheste, who took care of the stage, sound and catering.

Following the celebration, Yolanda and Mitch travelled to Burgersfort for another appearance.

Yolifires, who are Yolanda fans, have set up a fundraising club to try to raise money for her as a consolation for getting kicked out of the Big Brother house.

MC Junior won the 2024 Big Brother edition on Sunday evening and walked away with R2-million in prize money.
