This weekend Donald Trump – who refuses to wear a mask in public – played golf as America neared 100,000 Covid-19 deaths.
Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, who calls the virus “a little flu,” made a point of appearing in public maskless.
Brazil’s had 374,898 cases, second only to the US, and 23,522 deaths.
Bolsonaro’s refusal to do anything about the virus has led two health ministers to resign. The mayor of Brazil’s third-largest city, Manaus, has told him to resign and “go home and shut up”.
