Rangers are getting killed by poachers in Virunga National Park while on duty protecting gorillas.

Another 47-year-old head ranger, Bagurubumwe Deogene, was reportedly gunned down by poachers on Saturday while on duty at the Democratic Republic of Congo’s national park –  near Sarambwe village.

Deogene is said to be the 14th ranger killed by poachers this year alone and 170 Virunga rangers have been killed while on duty in recent years.

The armed group FDLR-RUD is said to be responsible for the attack on rangers.
