Police are investigating after a video of a KZN man assaulting his mother surfaced on social media.
Scrolla.Africa has escalated the matter with the police.
When the family spoke to Scrolla.Africa they pleaded for help from the authorities saying that the abusive son has been beating up their mother.
The victim is a pensioner, and her abusive son is said to be over 40 years old.
A family member, who asked not to be named, shared the video with Scrolla.Africa.
“We are not sure what the reasons are behind the continued assaults on our elderly mother. But this has been happening regularly,” said the source.
The family is from Mnambithi ekuVukeni, also known as Emxhasweni or Ezimbongolweni, in KwaZulu-Natal.
Scrolla.Africa has the names of both the mother and the son, which have been given to the national police.
National Police Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said police will investigate and trace the incident.
This incident follows the video of 19-year-old Luvo Gqaza from Kraaifontein in the Western Cape, who was allegedly seen assaulting his grandmother in a video that went viral on social media.
