Tony de Zorzi led South Africa to a big win in their second ODI against India, with the hosts bouncing back well from their pathetic Pink Day defeat.

The toss was a good one to win, and the Proteas took advantage of the movement in the middle of the pitch to find some big breakthroughs after opting to bowl first.

Ruturaj Gaikwad fell just two balls in followed by Tilak Varma who departed for just ten runs shortly after the powerplay.

Sai Sudharsan and KL Rahul got good starts, but neither could convert their half-centuries into big hundreds.

None of the other batters breached the 20-run mark as India crumbled to 211 all out. Nandre Burger was the pick of the bowlers with 3/30.

In response, De Zorzi and Reeza Hendricks set the tone with the highest-ever opening stand at St George’s Park.

Hendricks made 52 off 81 as the pair reached a partnership of 130. De Zorzi was unbeaten for his 119, which was also the second-highest individual score while chasing in Gqeberha.

It was the sixth time in seven attempts that India suffered an ODI defeat at St George’s Park, with South Africa’s eight-wicket win leaving the series perfectly poised at 1-1 ahead of the final one-dayer in Paarl on Thursday.
